Figure drawing on toned paper in charcoal – Lacey Lewis

In this video Lacey Lewis will show you how to draw a female figure on toned paper with charcoal and white pencil. Working on toned paper allows you to add shadows and lights on a mid-tone to achieve a better 3d effect.

This is a time lapse recording of a drawing I did from life in my studio of a nude female model. I worked in charcoal and white charcoal on toned paper, beginning with a geometric block in and progressing through stages of shading.
