Plein Air and Studio Painting – Cheryl Powell Art
Cheryl Powell is a North Carolina based fine artist painting in oil and pastel, both en plein air and in the studio. Cheryl’s work is representational and takes an impressionistic approach to the environment, often playing with the conventional techniques of realism.
Her subjects can be categorized broadly into: figurative, still life, landscapes, cityscapes, architecture, travel inspired, animals and North Carolina scenes.

Cheryl has had work accepted into juried shows hosted by the International Association of Pastel Societies, the Pastel Society of America and the Southeastern Pastel Society. Cheryl holds a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from Carnegie-Mellon University and a master’s in illustration from Syracuse University.
