Plein Air Oil Painting – "Summer Clouds"

Learn how I incorporate palette knife techniques and paint water reflections in this video. This was painted at a favorite swimming spot of mine called East Pond. I really like how the clouds shapes were in the sky and wanted to capture their fleeting effects. I used only a few colors to paint this: Titanium White, Chromatic Black, Burnt Umber, Ultramarine Blue, Rose Madder, Yellow Ocher, and Sap Green. I like the texture that the palette knife brings to the painting surface…especially on panels.
