Landscape Tutorial: Start with Patches, Finish with Details

James Gurney paints a landscape in the wine country of California using a method where he starts with a simple patchwork of color and then add detail with fine brushes and drybrush techniques. I also give a shout-out to Bob Ross. I missed him during his heyday because I didn’t have a TV, and although I don’t use the same techniques, I like his personality and the way he has fun with his art.
