Art education matters, so what’s the problem? | Laura Mack | TEDxSalem

We all know that there isn’t enough art being offered in schools, if any at all, but what are we going to do about it?

Interpretation for TEDxSalem V (2018) was provided by student interns through a collaboration between Western Oregon University, TEDxSalem, and the Deaf and interpreting communities of Oregon. The volunteer student interpreters were supported by volunteer, certified interpreters in order to minimize potential errors. Your support of these pre-professional interpreters’ growing skills is appreciated. Laura Mack lives in Salem, Oregon with her husband and two boys. Laura is an artist, educator, and art education advocate. She makes mixed media collages and drawings, teaches art and creativity at Chemeketa Community College, and coordinates the volunteer-driven Art Literacy program at Salem Heights Elementary School. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
