On August 14, 2016, I drove to a very rural part of North Western Massachusetts to track down Scott Prior, one of America’s greatest realist painters.
A while back I made a movie about the artist Gregory Gillespie.
I was seeking out people who had known him and met Scott through Facebook.
Gillespie had been a guide and artistic mentor to Scott in the 1970’s.
But their work eventually went in very different directions.
Scott’s primary subject is light and his paintings capture the beauty all around him.
