How to draw like Lane Brown – Master of light

Lane Brown is a masterful young figure drawer and concept artist.

I wanted to understand what makes his drawings so special.

This is a two part series where we break down some of Lane’s figure drawings.

In this part, we focus on how he approaches light and dark, a key characteristic of his artwork.

I’m really excited to try out some of the things I’ve learned from this video, and I hope you feel the same way.

Wonderful drawings like Lane’s can feel out of reach sometimes, but if you practise consistently and regularly, and make sure you continually experiment and push yourself outside your comfort zone, it is achievable for any of us.
