Winter Landscape Painting | One Quiet Morning

I take you through this new painting today that I did with oils on canvas panel. I often combine ideas from different reference photos to produce my art and I thought it would be fun to take you through that process. I share techniques, tips, and the story behind what I painted.

I feel like almost any of my best memories outdoors could begin with “One Quiet Morning.” It could be any season, any kind of view, or any morning for that matter. But it’s hard to beat those still mornings as the sunlight begins to peek through. Winter especially has something about it that makes things feel stuck in time.

The stillness after a fresh snowfall and chilling night can be like something out of this world. I wanted to capture that crisp, quiet feeling of a cold winter morning in this #painting as well as the sparkle of those first rays of sunlight.
