Learn some painting techniques for painting barns in this video. I went out recently looking for painting material and came across this fantastic location. It is right on Rt.2 out of Norridgewock, Maine. I experimented with condensing the width of the barn due to my lack of a wide enough canvas…stealing bits here and there from the scene to make a painting. I especially like how I handled the shadow of the barn on the right. I wasn’t after a linear drawing of the clapboards on the barn…I used more of color variations and temperature, along with brushwork to describe them. If you’re not careful, a scene like this will become too busy quickly…you need to edit. Thanks for watching! Questions?…leave them in the comments.
