Imprimatura for Landscape Painting by mbevia

In this Video I show how to make a historic pink imprimatura for landscape painting.

Many landscape paintings dating from the 15th to the 19th century show a pink colored imprimatura or ground. This pinkish imprimatura helps achieve atmospheric ambience and luminosity. Many artists toned their ground pink to paint skies, clouds, distant mountains, water and vegetation.

Pinkish imprimatura was especially popular during the 18th and 19th century for landscape painting.
