How to paint a landscape in Gouache – Matt Fussell

Watercolors are transparent but if you add some white to the mixture you have opaque watercolor, also called gouache. In this video Matt Fussel from the “Drawing & Painting – The Virtual Instructor” channel will show you how to paint a nice and easy landscape with gouaches.

Learn how to paint a simple landscape with opaque watercolor (gouache) in this lesson and tutorial. A blue sky, various trees, a stone wall, and stone building are all included in the demonstration.

Using this versatile painting medium, we can create translucent or opaque applications. Using the paint opaquely, we can begin with the background and work our way to the middle ground and then foreground, creating a convincing illusion of light and space.
