How to draw a Dragon head using Photoshop

Armoured dragon illustration.
I started drawing this dragon head a while back, it started just as a doodle but I decided to record it anyway 🙂
I finally got round to finishing it off, or at least finishing it to the degree I can be bothered with 😛
I think this digital painting took around 5 hours and painting the scaled was a pain in the bum 🙂

I didn’t really have too much in mind at first but decided some armour would be pretty bad ass on a dragon. Decided values / greyscale would be an easier option too. A lot about this painting is probably very off, as painting metal is hard in my opinion, but I am pretty happy with it 🙂
I am using Adobe Photoshop CS6 along with a Wacom Cintiq 13 hd
