Canvas Painting: Texture & Illustration

Adding textures is a simple yet extremely effective way of uplifting any canvas painting. This week, we show you how to create texture and illustrate on canvas – all you need is some fabric and Fevicryl Acrylic Colours!

Things you need:
Fevicryl Acrylic Colours – White, Golden Yellow, Orange, Burnt Sienna, Black, Fevicryl Fabric Glue, Fine Art Stretch Canvas, Fine Art Brushes, Jute Fabric, Empty Tissue Roll, Design Sheet, Red Carbon Paper, Tissue Paper, Pencil, Colour Palette.

Step 1: Take Fevicryl Fabric Glue.
Step 2: Apply Fevicryl Fabric Glue onto an empty tissue roll.
Step 3: Stick the jute fabric on the roll for texturing the canvas later. Let it dry completely.
Step 4: Take Fevicryl Acrylic Colours – White, Chrome Yellow, Orange. Mix the three shades to get a pale yellow colour.
Step 5: Take the canvas and apply a base coat of this pale yellow colour. Let it dry.
Step 6: Take Fevicryl Acrylic – Burnt Sienna.
Step 7: Add Orange and Burnt Sienna to the pale yellow colour.
Step 8: Apply this colour on one half of the jute fabric roll.
Step 9: Roll it onto the canvas repeatedly for the texture.
Step 10: Take a piece of jute fabric and apply Burnt Sienna on it.
Step 11: Dab the fabric on the edges of the canvas for the texture.
Step 12: Trace the design onto the canvas using red carbon paper.
Step 13: Paint the design with Fevicryl Acrylic Black using a round brush
Step 14: Your gorgeous canvas painting is ready!
