Step 1 ? If you draw something on a rounded surface, it curves along with the object. Straight lines make it look flat and 2 dimensional
Step 2 ? When shading an object that isn’t flat, dont shade using straight lines. Follow the curve of the object with your cross hatch lines
Step 3 ? when cross hatching, your lines should be more spread apart the closer it gets to the light source
