Color Mixing for Beginners – How to Mix Any Color with Acrylic Paint (Part 2 of 2)

In this video, I demonstrate how to mix any color with a simple 4-step process involving hue, value, chroma. Note that I purposefully did not mention the names of the colors because the principles will be the same no matter what tube color you use or what palette of colors you have.

1. Start with the closest color on your palette (it doesn’t matter what your palette consists of, as long as it covers a basic range of colors)

2. Is the target color more or less intense?

3. Is the target color warmer or cooler?

4. Is the target color lighter or darker in value?

Note that step 2, 3, 4 can be in any order or happen simultaneously.
